Our children are keen on keeping active and we work very hard to ensure there are plenty of opportunities.
Specialist teaching – Coach's from R and D Coaching work across KS1/KS2 1 afternoon each week supporting teaching and learning.
As part of our transition to Primary we will be setting up fixtures and games with other schools – our children enjoy playing competitive sport with other local teams, for example Tag Rugby, Cricket and Football.
In addition to this every class has 2 hours of quality PE each week. Teachers have regular in-service training to ensure we are all kept up to date with skills and teaching methods. We receive CPD training from the School Sports Partnership. In the Spring Term Teachers received updated training in Tri Golf, Gymnastics and OAA.
At lunchtime our Lunchtime Supervisors have all had training in encouraging and supporting play. They organise activities and games for the children. Activities such as bats and balls, skipping ropes and hoops are offered to all, and in addition games such as football and tennis are offered to all.
Before and After School clubs - We offer a variety of clubs throughout the week these can change due to the season but our popular clubs are Tag Rugby, Cricket, Rounders, Dance, Marathon Club to name but a few.
Visiting coaches, eg Tennis, Multi- Sports, Tag Rugby have all been in to work with our children. Our aim is to include all children in sport and find an activity that enriches and boosts confidence.
Swimming lessons are offered to children in Year 3 & 4, as an important life skill, especially in an area where there are a number of rivers. These take place at a Bedford swimming pool.
